PERKY COHEN

Perky Cohen

When Perky was dealing with her own life threatening illness, then the death of her father and later her daughter, she struggled with the emotions of love, loneliness, sadness, total frustration and intense introspection. She also questioned humanity's relationship with a higher being. Her sculptures often portray universal human pathos that gets translated into a quest for spirituality.

Perky sometimes works in clay or direct plaster but prefers to carve wood. She feels there is natural warmth to wood and the grain provides a flow that lends a sensual quality to her work.
