MARILYN W. SIMON Marilyn W. Simon ARTIST STATEMENT Kandinsky's painting, "Composition: Storm," is the root source of my most recent work. His dense, jumbled, layers of color and form inspired me to be more fanciful and free than ever before. In pulling three-dimensional forms from his two-dimensional shapes I encountered new surprises when these same forms were seen from an alternate viewpoint. Kandinsky's zig and zag brush strokes literally took on new dimensions. The clay coiled up in my hands with, seemingly, its own life spirit. My application of color was a natural extension of his process. I selected hues from Kandinsky's palette to support, not explain, the cacophony of shapes. Marilyn W. Simon
